bumbum diapers are made from only safe-for-baby ingredients. We had our super smart diaper scientists break it down so you can understand the basics of our ingredients and why they are in our diaper.
Topsheet/Inner Liner: The topsheet is the nonwoven material directly on the inside of the diaper that touches your babe’s lil bumbum. This layer is made of polypropylene and helps transport pee and poo into the core of the diaper.
Barrier Ointment: Our diapers have a barrier ointment that is applied to the topsheet – designed specifically to help maintain your babe’s healthy skin. The barrier ointment is comprised of the following ingredients: petrolatum, stearyl alcohol, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, mineral oil, topcopherol, calendula officinalis flower extract, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, and aloe barbadensis leaf extract.
Absorbent Core: The absorbent core of bumbum diapers is made from sodium polyacrylate aka super absorbent polymer (SAP) and cellulose. SAP is a safe, nontoxic polymer used to absorb and lock away large amounts of liquid to help keep baby dry. Cellulose or absorbent fluff pulp are soft, fluffy fibers that are derived from wood pulp to help absorb liquid.
Acquisition Layer: A nonwoven layer of the diaper made from polyester, the acquisition layer of the diaper serves as the layer of the diaper between the topsheet and absorbent core.
Leg Cuffs: Also known as the dual leak barrier, the leg cuffs are the material directly around your babe’s legs. They are made from polypropylene nonwoven and spandex and are part of the diaper to ensure proper fit and to help prevent leaks.
Backsheet: The backsheet is the outer most layer of the diaper and is comprised of both a film and covering. The backsheet film is made from polyethylene and is a waterproof material that helps prevent pee and poo from escaping the diaper. The backsheet covering is the nonwoven fiber covering adhered to the backsheet film to create a soft feel on the outside of the diaper.
Wetness Indicator: Made from bromocresol green, a common industry ingredient, the wetness indicator is made from pH sensitive material that changes from yellow to blue when wet to help you know when its time to change your lil babe’s diaper.
Pigment-Based Inks: Safe, non-sensitizing pigments used for stylish designs and to indicate size/bumbum brand name on the outside of the diaper.
